COVID Vaccine Certificate Fraud Leads to Suspension of GGD Employees

news1

A 20-year-old man arrested for being a part of Covid-19 certificate fraud. Many GGD employees are also suspended on suspicion of showing fake vaccine proofs.

As of September 21, 2021, multiple GGD or Regional Public Health Services (umbrella organisation under GGD GHOR Netherlands) employees were suspended on suspicion of showing fake Covid vaccine certificates to people.

Alphen aan den Rijn, a 20-year-old was arrested in connection with this fraud. NOS reveals that more arrests may be expected soon. The actual number of employees involved in the fraud and the regions where they work from has not been disclosed yet.

“We do not tolerate that employees abuse their work at the GGD or in the national call center to commit fraud,” a representative said to NU.nl.  “The employees were immediately suspended and a report was filed with the police.”

“Unfortunately, despite all safeguards, we cannot completely rule out the possibility of employees abusing the system they had access to because of their work,” GGD GHOR Netherland said in a statement. “If a violation is discovered, it can lead to charges and immediate dismissal.”

A man in Michigan was arrested for fraudulently acquiring PPP loans on September 14, 2021. The guilty is sentenced to 32-month imprisonment for illegally seeking $1 million in the Pay-check Protection Program (PPP).

With fake Covid vaccine certificates, people can acquire a coronavirus access pass which takes form of a QR code often times on applications. Henceforth, entering public spaces, large-scale events, etc. is no longer a problem.
