ChatBooks notifies users of the data breach after data sold on the dark web

ChatBooks has recently disclosed the data breach following a cyber attack on its system that resulted in stolen information of users. The stolen data of 15 million users is now available on the dark web for sale.

ChatBooks is the photo print service that creates photo books using Facebook and Instagram social media accounts. This breach is the part of the data breaches done by a group of hackers that is now selling over 73 million user records from 11 different companies.

Earlier this week, ZeroFox, cyber intelligence firms informed BleepingComputer that Shiny Hunters was selling databases for photo print service ChatBooks, meal kit delivery service HomeChef, and news source for higher education Chronicle.com.

In these three data breaches, around 26 million accounts are being sold at different initial prices ranging between $1,500 and $2,500 for every database. However, the prices of ChatBooks’ records are changed to $3500.

After receiving the report on these breaches, ChatBooks started notifying their users of the breach.
